Advances in satellite technology have resulted in smaller dishes and antennas which has opened up new possibilities for reception of television programming on all kinds of vehicles. Boat owners, owners of recreational vehicles and commercial trucks are purchasing satellite dishes and receiving programming while on the road or open water. RV owners and commercial truck drivers can even receive network signals via satellite dish under a provision in the Satellite Home Viewer Act. However, boat owners are still ineligible to receive distant network signals. Why? Because broadcasters beat back earlier attempts to include marine vessels arguing that it was just a way for consumers to get around the distant signal restrictions.

Allowing recreational boaters access to network programming while traveling is another reason why it makes sense to change the current law. Join the "My TV - My Way" campaign today! The restrictions on who can get out of market tv stations have long outlived their usefulness. That is why we are launching a campaign to change the law so that any satellite subscriber can get access to tv stations outside their local market on any recreational vehicle or boat. If you can buy a newspaper in your hometown from any market in the country, why can't you get access to any network tv station?

Congress must act to extend the Satellite Home Viewer Act by December 31, 2009 to preserve the rights of those satellite consumers who don't have access to local tv stations to get the signals of distant tv stations. Now is the time to get Congress to change the law so that all satellite subscribers can have access to tv stations from outside their home market.
